Gemma & Grace - Stunning Sudbury Wedding

A romantic and relaxed wedding for you to be inspired by, with a beautiful, classic and timeless feel. These two amazing women were married just over a month ago, on our stunning Kāpiti Coast.

Grace had proposed to Gemma at the peak of The Cardrona ski field in Queenstown/ Wanaka. After convincing Gem to climb the hill in her ski boots “for the view” with a lot of resistance from Gemma. Grace pretending to read the southern star information sign, waiting for Gemma and then turning around to propose!

No ski boots amongst this inspirational gallery, but plenty of yummy…

“Gemma and I met at work, Gemma was actually my mentor for the first year of my practice in nursing. We fell for each other after about 3 years of friendship.

We envisioned a day of love family and friends. We wanted a relaxed and romantic atmosphere to create a day that everyone would look back on and smile. We wanted the mimosas flowing and the food plentiful to sit back and share stories of our lives together and what the future holds for us.

Special features on the day - Grace’s brother wrote and read a personalised reading during the ceremony. Our nephew who is just about to turn one also danced his way down the aisle with his mum which was very special to us.

“Favourite part of the day would have to be when I saw Gem walking down the aisle - absolutely magical moment the world fell away and all I could see was my beautiful bride walking towards me.”

We had hole in one golf which was a big hit with the guests! Also where we could we tried to use local businesses and close friends with businesses for our day for example our cake and florist and photographer and videographer. We also used materials which we could recycle and use again for example our table names are now made into a bird house behind our house and our guests were all given plantable favours and menus to grow forget me nots and daisies.

Florist and Stylist: Holly and Twine, Georgia styled everything for us which was so amazing and exactly the vision we wanted.

Makeup: Kerry - who we organised through Amber and Co. She was so amazing and the makeup lasted all night. She even had a SPF setting spray that wouldn’t show flashback in the photos.

Outfits: We wanted to be really realistic with our dresses. We wanted a specific look each but we wanted to keep it simple. Grace wore a Made With Love dress that she bought on Still White, second hand and in perfect condition. Gem found her dress on ASOS and it was magical.

Cake: Courtney Wylie did our cake. The top layer was Lemon with raspberries, with a lemon buttercream (Gems flavour). The bottom layer was a banana cake with a vanilla frosting (Graces flavour). We chose to share the rest of the cake the next day at a family brunch and then with the girls over for cake and bubbles.

Catering: Sudbury organises your catering, the caterer was Sarah Serancke. We had a vegetarian wedding- even the dads were over the moon with the food. People are still commenting on the food now!
