Keep Your Wedding Guests Busy
Ah, New Zealand - the land of truly unpredictable weather patterns. But we’re being optimistic today. We’re planning for the jackpot of all wedding weather - light breeze, blue skies. We’ve got our top five ideas for entertaining at a mainly outdoor wedding (but never fear - you can work these to an indoor option without much effort!)
GARDEN GAMES
For the guests, there will be time to spare during the day - perfect for wandering the garden, basking in the sun, having a glass (or three) of bubbly and - Giant Jenga!
Not limited to stacking giant towers until they tumble (to everyone’s delight), there are a tonne of outdoor game options, including human-sized Connect Four, croquet, lawn bowls, ring toss, and plenty more. The best part of garden games is that it’s a great way to keep people entertained without forcing it - they can play as they like, or watch the kids play instead.
SOCIAL SETTINGS
Create areas where your guests can chat, socialise and share a drink - all while basking in the sun (or cooling off in the shade). This makes for the perfect environment for everyone to enjoy themselves, and as there is often a lot of waiting around on a wedding day, keep them comfortable and close to the bar. Can’t go wrong!
DRINK STATIONS
Well, that brings us to the next (and some might say, most important) key to keeping your guests busy and entertained - the bar. Might be stating the obvious here, but you can get crafty with it too (no pun intended) - instead of opting for a classic indoor bar, why not go for a caravan bar? We absolutely adore Mabel (pictured above) - this caravan bar is perfect for those days where the sun bursts out, fits in perfectly with any garden wedding vibe, and also gives a fabulous photo op!
PHOTO BOOTHS
Photo booths have come a long way! We have so many great options now - it's a sure winner with your guests, not to mention the record you'll have long after the celebrations are over. Find our local photo booths here! And why not grab a couple of polaroid cameras while you’re at it - this is a great way to make a personalised guest book, where each guest has the opportunity to take a snap and write a wee note.
SWEET TREATS OR GRAZING TABLES
The greatest distraction - food! Go for the summer vibes and have an ice-block bar, ice creams, lemonade stand, donut wall or wood fired pizza - the possibilities really are endless. Grazing tables are great for keeping people topped up on food throughout a hot afternoon (just make sure to keep any cheese in a cool, shady spot!)
