Engagement photos. You’ve seen them - your friends have announced their next step in commitment with a glistening sunset shoot filled with the magic of a newly engaged couple. There’s nothing quite like the excitement and love that shows through in an engagement shoot (rivalled only by those magnificent, unforgettable wedding day photos) - it’s a time of overwhelming happiness, a touch of nervousness, and anticipation (why can’t we get married right now?).

We’re all for an engagement shoot - and here’s why! If our reasons aren’t enough, we think these gorgeous images speak for themselves.

Get comfortable in front of the camera

If you’re not used to having your photo taken (which is incredibly common), an engagement shoot is the perfect opportunity to warm yourself to the idea of working it in front of the camera. A good photographer will make sure you’re comfortable, and help you to capture your best selves in front of the lens - making sure you look gorgeous and in love! Take the stress out of the big day’s shoot and ease into it.

Find a photographer

Not sure who to go with? Like someone’s work, but not sure if it’s the right fit? Engagement shoots are the perfect way to figure out who you want capturing your day. Which leads into our next reason...

Get to know your photographer

You’re gonna be spending a loooong day with them - so make sure you like them. Think of this as a test run to see if your personalities match. The better the connection between you, as a couple, and your photographer, the more natural and relaxed your photos will come out.

Get gorgeous photos

The main reason - get beautiful photos! The photos from an engagement shoot are perfect for using on your paper or online wedding invites, engagement announcements, decor for the tables and the wedding reception, or even just to add to your photo albums

Remember why you’re getting married

It’s easy to get caught up in the wedding planning stress - and forget about the whole reason you’re doing it in the first place! An engagement shoot is the perfect opportunity to get a little close, do a little canoodling for the camera, and think about how much you love your human!

You 100% have the right to celebrate! Get all glammed up or keep it natural, head out to your favourite photo spot (or your photographer can recommend a few), and let the joy wash over you! Post them on social media or keep them private - whatever you decide, there’s no wrong answer.
